Verdict
Kalshi and Robinhood are different access routes, so a useful comparison starts with the exact contract rather than the app name. KalshiEX is a designated contract market. Robinhood provides access through its derivatives business and partnered exchanges. Compare the settlement rules and complete order cost before choosing a route. This review is based on published documents, not funded-account execution tests; it does not identify a universal winner.
Row by row
The edge on each row is marked. Built automatically from the platform records, so it never drifts from the reviews — rows that describe rather than rank, like jurisdiction or market categories, say “no edge” instead of picking a side.

Exchange versus access provider
The CFTC’s Kalshi filing record identifies Kalshi as a designated contract market. Robinhood’s event-contract overview describes access through Robinhood Derivatives and partnered exchanges. Those roles matter because the interface provider and the exchange responsible for the contract may be different entities.
Before comparing a market, identify the exchange named for that contract and read its settlement rules. Similar titles on two screens do not establish that the underlying outcomes, deadlines and exceptional settlement provisions match.
Compare the complete order cost
Kalshi publishes a fee schedule with a general price-dependent formula and product-specific exceptions. Robinhood describes both a commission and an additional exchange fee. Use the current order preview for the same contract quantity and price; the name of the app alone does not establish which route is cheaper.
Include a potential closing trade, any funding or withdrawal cost and a subscription cost if that is part of the offer you are evaluating. Our worked fee comparison explains the calculation without presenting illustrative inputs as either platform’s actual rates.
What this comparison cannot establish
We have not measured execution quality, support response times or withdrawals through funded accounts on these two routes. Convenience also depends on which accounts you already hold and which contracts you can access. Neither an account nor federal exchange designation by itself answers every eligibility question.

FAQ
- Is Robinhood itself the exchange for every contract it offers?
- Its event-contract overview describes access through Robinhood Derivatives and partnered exchanges. Identify the exchange and rules for the specific contract.
- Which route is cheaper?
- Compare the current commission, exchange fee and executable price for the same quantity. A single headline fee does not establish the complete cost.
