Kalshi phone verification not working? What to check
Kalshi sends a four-digit code by text when you sign up and every 30 days when you log in. When it does not arrive, the cause is usually the wait, a blocked short code or the number itself — here is what Kalshi’s help centre tells you to try, in order.
In one minute
- Wait up to 20 minutes before asking for a new code: Kalshi says SMS codes can take that long.
- Turn off spam blocking or call filtering, and ask your carrier to allow short-code texts.
- If you once replied STOP to Kalshi, reply START to receive codes again.
- Not every international number is supported; an authenticator app avoids SMS for later logins.
How Kalshi’s phone verification works
Every Kalshi account needs a phone number. At sign-up, Kalshi sends a four-digit code by SMS to confirm it, and a separate four-digit code to your email. After that, two-factor authentication asks for a code once every 30 days when you log in — by text unless you switch to an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator.
Why the code is not arriving, and what to do
Kalshi’s help centre lists these checks for a code that does not come (phone verification, 2FA codes, read 26 October 2026):
- Give it time. SMS codes may take up to 20 minutes; requesting new ones in the meantime can leave you holding an expired code.
- Check the number. Confirm the number on your profile is the one in your hand, with no typo.
- Check your signal, and that the phone can receive text messages at all.
- Switch off spam blocking or call filtering, on the phone or in a carrier app.
- Ask your carrier to enable short-code messages: some carriers block them, and Kalshi’s codes come from one.
- Reply START if you previously opted out of Kalshi’s texts.
- If the code expired, restart the process rather than retyping it.
For the email code, check your spam or junk folder.
International, VoIP and prepaid numbers
Kalshi says “not all international phone numbers are supported at this time” and that you may need to use a supported number to finish signing up. It does not publish a list of accepted number types — nothing current on its help centre addresses VoIP, prepaid or landline numbers — so if a code never reaches a non-standard number, try a regular mobile number on a major carrier.
Lost access to your phone, or changing your number
- To change your number, edit it on your account profile (the pencil icon); Kalshi sends a code to the new number to confirm it.
- If you no longer have the old number, choose “I can’t access my phone” at the code prompt. Kalshi says this works on the web and the iOS app but “isn’t in the Android app yet”, so use a browser from Android.
- Kalshi’s login troubleshooting page says you can regain access yourself without the old number.
Contacting Kalshi support
If none of that works, Kalshi’s support page says the fastest route is the support messenger while logged in (menu → Get help → Chat with support), with email as a fallback. It offers no phone or text support. Include your account email, your full name and screenshots of the error. Never send a verification code to anyone who contacts you — Kalshi’s codes are only for you to type in.

Common questions
Why is my Kalshi verification code not coming?+
Kalshi says SMS codes can take up to 20 minutes. Otherwise the usual causes are spam blocking or call filtering, a carrier blocking short-code texts, a wrong number on your profile, a weak signal, or an earlier STOP reply — text START to opt back in.
Does Kalshi accept international phone numbers?+
Some. Kalshi says not all international numbers are supported at this time and that you may need a supported number to complete sign-up. It does not publish which ones work.
Can I use an authenticator app instead of SMS on Kalshi?+
Yes, for two-factor authentication at login: Kalshi supports SMS, the default, or an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator. The first phone verification at sign-up is by SMS.
How do I log in to Kalshi without my old phone number?+
Choose “I can’t access my phone” at the code prompt, which Kalshi says works on the web and the iOS app but not yet in the Android app. If recovery fails, contact support through the in-app messenger or by email.
