Prediction market fees: what the same trade costs on each venue
Fee schedules are hard to compare by reading them: a price-weighted fee, a flat cent per contract and a share of net gains look nothing alike. So this page prices five typical trades on each of the 10 venues whose published schedule can be computed. The number is the trading fee in dollars, then as a share of the money traded.
- One election trade, held to the result. $100 on YES at 50¢ — 200 contracts — bought at the market and held.
- A pre-game trade on the favourite. $70 on the favourite at 70¢ — 100 contracts — before kick-off, held to the final whistle.
- A long shot on an economic release. $20 on a 10¢ outcome — 200 contracts — such as an unexpected rate decision.
- An active month of trading. Ten round trips of 500 contracts at 50¢ on economic markets — 20 fills, all at the market.
- A patient limit order. A resting order for 500 contracts at 40¢ on a political market, filled by others, held.
Each schedule restates the fee documents recorded, with their source, in the venue’s review; the source column links the document. “Not offered” means the venue does not list that kind of market. Spreads, price impact, deposits and withdrawals are not included. Last updated . Free to cite with a link to this page. Not legal advice.

Frequently asked questions
- Which prediction market has the lowest fees?
It depends on the trade. On our five examples: for a $100 election trade at 50¢, Polymarket (international), ProphetX and IBKR ForecastTrader ($2.00); for a pre-game sports trade, Novig ($0.00); for an active month of trading, IBKR ForecastTrader ($100.00). A venue you cannot use is not cheaper for you — check access in each review first.
- Are prediction market fees a percentage of the trade?
Usually not. Most US venues charge a rate × contracts × price × (1 − price), which peaks at 50¢ and shrinks toward 1¢ and 99¢; some charge a flat amount per contract; ProphetX charges 2% of net gains, so a losing position pays nothing. That is why the same trade costs different amounts on each, and why the table prices trades rather than quoting rates.
- Do makers pay fees on prediction markets?
On several venues, no: Kalshi, Polymarket US, Polymarket (international), ProphetX and Crypto.com charge a resting (maker) order nothing or pay a rebate, on our maker example. OG and Underdog’s exchange charge makers a quarter of the taker rate, and ForecastEx charges both sides a cent.
- What do these numbers leave out?
The spread you cross when you trade at the market, price impact on a large order, deposit and withdrawal fees, volume rebates and interest such as ForecastEx’s Incentive Coupon. They are the published trading fee on the trade described, nothing more.
