KYC and identity verification, by prediction market
How each of the 56 platforms we review checks who you are: whether an ID check is required, when it is asked for and what it involves, and who can open an account. 15 require verification, 5 do not, and 36 do not say.
Every value is read from the platform record behind its review, checked against the operator’s own documents or a regulator’s register; each row links its source. A dash means we have not established the fact — it never means “no”. Last updated . Free to cite with a link to this page. Not legal advice.
| Platform | Type | ID check | When, and what is asked | Who can open an account | Source | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ADI PredictStreet | Regulated exchange | Required | At 2,000 cumulative net deposits, on first withdrawal, or other internal trigger (FAQ) | 18+; FAQ: "We do not accept customers from certain restricted countries — you will be informed during registration". No country list published; Terms bar any Restricted Jurisdiction where participation is prohibited by law, plus sanctioned persons. | adipredictstreet.com ↗ | |
| Betr Predictions | Broker | Required | The first time a user opens Prediction Markets, they must accept the Prediction Markets Terms and Conditions. Identity is then checked through Polymarket's verification system, separately from Betr account verification, and additional information may be requested. | Users must be "at least 18 years old (or the greater age required by applicable law)" and physically located where the functionality is available. They must also open a Polymarket US account and accept the Polymarket Rules (Betr Predictions Terms §2). Betr's September 8, 2026 release describes a "phased rollout in beta to eligible users in select states", with a full release planned for later this football season. Betr does not name the states. Its help-centre state table covers only Picks and Arcade, and the betr.app homepage still labels Predictions "COMING SOON". | prnewswire.com ↗ | |
| Crypto.com Prediction Markets | Regulated exchange | Required | Requires a Crypto.com USD Cash Account; Prediction Trading is offered by CDNA. The exact identity-verification requirements are not stated on the help-centre article. | The documented Prediction Trading feature is US-only. Having a Crypto.com account elsewhere does not establish access to this product. | help.crypto.com ↗ | |
| DraftKings Predictions | Broker | Required | Requires an account with DraftKings’ CFTC-registered introducing broker subsidiary. The exact identity-verification requirements are not verified. | Availability depends on physical location and market category. The operator requires an eligible US state, Washington DC or US territory and excludes trading while on tribal land. | predictions.draftkings.com ↗ | |
| FanDuel Predicts | Broker | Required | Accounts are opened with FanDuel Prediction Markets LLC, a CFTC-registered futures commission merchant (fanduel.com). The exact identity-verification requirements are not stated. | — | fanduel.com ↗ | |
| Interactive Brokers ForecastTrader | Broker | Required | Trading requires an account with a CFTC-registered futures commission merchant that is a Member at ForecastEx (forecastex.com FAQ). The exact identity-verification requirements are not stated. | Eligibility depends on the IBKR entity carrying the account, account permissions and the contract. Exchange availability is not a country-wide guarantee of broker access. | interactivebrokers.com ↗ | |
| Kalshi | Regulated exchange | Required | Mandatory before trading. Kalshi requires full legal name, date of birth, a residential address (no PO boxes or commercial addresses) and a live photo of a government ID — driver’s licence or passport — and states it is “mandated to gather this specific information from all Kalshi users due to our regulatory obligations under United States (US) law”, with proof of address, employment information or source of funds possible on top (help.kalshi.com, read 31 July 2026). | Kalshi accepts applications from international customers, subject to identity checks and the Member Agreement. Many countries are expressly excluded from event-contract trading. Absence from that list does not by itself verify an individual’s eligibility. | kalshi-public-docs.s3.amazonaws.com ↗ | |
| Novig | Regulated exchange | Required | At sign-up: legal name, date of birth, address, phone, last 4 digits of SSN, and a current US driver's licence or state ID (support.novig.com Account Verification). | Users must be 21 or older and physically located in an eligible US jurisdiction when they trade; Novig's help centre says it "does not currently operate in Michigan, Nevada, and Arizona." The operator's promo page notes that eligibility "is based on your physical location at the time you trade — not your billing address or state of residency." Identity verification (KYC) is required and each user may hold one account. | support.novig.com ↗ | |
| OG | Regulated exchange | Required | At sign-up (US): email and phone codes, then full name, date of birth and last four digits of the SSN. OG may also ask for a state-issued ID and a selfie. Trading starts after “Verification Approved”. If your details match an existing Crypto.com account, you log in with it and its identity check “carries over”. More checks can be triggered, for example by “$10,000 or more in combined deposits within 24 hours” across OG.com and Crypto.com. Outside the US: a government-issued ID and a selfie. | Location: the help centre says “OG.com is currently available in all U.S. states”, but “certain event contracts … may be unavailable in certain U.S. states”. It does not say which contracts or states. The App Store listing also says “Available in all 50 US states”. Some features are limited by jurisdiction: Alpha is only “available in regions where sports trading is permitted”, Combo availability “may vary by jurisdiction”, and New York residents cannot use Mesh crypto deposits. New York has its own help articles. Age: none of the documents we read state a minimum age. The NADEX Rulebook says the age is “as stated on the Membership Agreement”, which we did not find. The App Store rates the app 17+. Outside the US, OG says it is “currently available only in certain locations” and names no countries. | help.og.com ↗ | |
| Onyx Odds (Onyx Predictions) | Broker | Required | At signup (the store listing mentions an "identity-verified signup"). Trading also requires opening a NinjaTrader Clearing account. | 18+ or the local age of majority, whichever is higher (Terms §3). Onyx Predictions is listed as available in CA, NJ, CO, LA, WV, ID and AL, plus IN and ME on the homepage only. Trading requires a NinjaTrader Clearing account. | onyxodds.com ↗ | |
| Pariflow | Custodial | Required | The Terms require verification up front — “You must provide truthful, complete, and current verification information” — and reserve the right to go further: “Pariflow may request additional identity documents, beneficial ownership details, source-of-funds/source-of-wealth evidence”. | — | pariflow.com ↗ | |
| Polymarket US | Regulated exchange | Required | At signup, before any deposit or trade: "You must complete KYC before you can deposit funds or trade." Users give their full name, date of birth and address. Some are also asked for a government ID and a selfie check, and manual review can take up to 3–5 business days. | Individual participants must be natural persons "at least 18 years of age, having attained the age of majority in your state" (Individual Participant and Clearing Member Agreement §II.1). The agreement also excludes residents of any jurisdiction where trading "is prohibited under Applicable Law or by PMUS policy", including OFAC-sanctioned and FATF-listed jurisdictions. None of the operator documents we read (docs, participant agreement, rulebook, website terms) publishes a list of eligible or excluded US states. The iOS and Google Play listings claim "CFTC regulated in the United States — in all 50 states", yet a Nevada court has enjoined QCX LLC d/b/a Polymarket US in that state. | polymarketexchange.com ↗ | |
| PredictEX | Custodial | Required | Terms require completed KYC/AML/geolocation checks to use the platform; enhanced checks at company-set thresholds | 18+; Terms list Restricted Jurisdictions incl. "the United States of America and its territories", UK, Australia, Singapore, Curaçao, Netherlands, France, Belgium, Spain, Russia, Belarus and sanctioned regions. | app.predictex.io ↗ | |
| ProphetX | Regulated exchange | Required | At account opening. Identity is checked automatically, with ID, selfie and SSN upload if that fails. The help centre says "Accounts that are pending verification ... will not be able to make a deposit, trade, or withdrawal." Wires also need a bank statement, ID and a selfie holding the ID. | Users must be "over 18 of age or the minimum legal age of majority whichever is higher" in their jurisdiction (Terms of Use s.3.1, v1.0, 10 June 2026), must hold a US bank or payment account in their own name, and must not be on the OFAC sanctions list (Rulebook Rule 3.1). The operator says it is "available nationwide" (launch press release, 18 June 2026) and publishes no list of excluded states. Its help centre says only that access "is restricted from certain locations and IP addresses as part of our compliance requirements". | prnewswire.com ↗ | |
| Underdog Predictions | Regulated exchange | Required | At account opening. UDM's Futures Account Agreement says it will ask for "name, residential address, date of birth, social security number" and may request government photo ID, and "may restrict your access to your Account pending such verification." UDM's terms also require a Linked Underdog Account with Underdog Fantasy. The UDX participant agreement has a USA PATRIOT Act notice saying the exchange must "obtain, verify and record information that identifies You". | The UDX rulebook requires each participant to "be at least 18 years of age and has attained the age of majority" where they live. Underdog's disclaimer page reads "Must be 18+ and present in a state where Underdog Predict operates" and, for the FCM, "Must be a U.S. resident." The UDX and UDM terms both use geolocation (GPS, IP and similar) to decide eligibility and block VPN use. The App Store listing gives fantasy age limits as "18+ (19+ in AL, NE; 19+ in CO for some games; 21+ in AZ, MA & VA)", but that line is about Underdog Fantasy, not prediction markets. Underdog's help-centre page "Eligible States for Prediction Picks" would carry the state list, but it was blocked by Cloudflare from our location, so we have no operator-confirmed list of eligible or excluded states. Underdog's California page says "We have Predictions, Pick’em and Drafts available" there. | underdog-exchange.pactsafe.io ↗ | |

Frequently asked questions
- Do prediction markets require KYC?
Most regulated ones do. Of the 56 platforms we review, 15 require identity verification, 5 do not, and for 36 the operator’s documents do not settle it. The US-regulated venues verify identity before you trade — ADI PredictStreet, Betr Predictions, Crypto.com Prediction Markets, DraftKings Predictions and 11 more among them.
- Which prediction markets do not require KYC?
By their own documents, HypeMarket, Overtime, PRED, Predict.fun and World. Most are on-chain venues that settle in crypto, and many exclude US residents in their terms whether or not they check identity — see each review before you deposit.
- What do you need to verify your identity on a prediction market?
On US-regulated venues: your full legal name, date of birth, residential address and Social Security number (often the last four digits), and sometimes a government photo ID and a selfie. The table above quotes what each operator states.
- Can you use a prediction market anonymously?
Not a regulated one. Exchanges on the CFTC’s register must identify their customers, and the CFTC has named traders in insider-trading cases even when they used pseudonymous handles. Some on-chain venues let a wallet trade without an account, but their terms usually still exclude certain countries.
