Prediction markets in the United Kingdom
Of the 23 platforms we review, 5 are open to UK residents, 2 with restrictions and 10 exclude them. For 6 the published terms do not say either way.
In the UK, betting is licensed by the Gambling Commission and financial derivatives are supervised by the Financial Conduct Authority. Many platforms name the UK in their restricted-jurisdiction lists.

Manifold is play money only: mana cannot be cashed out (Terms updated 31 Jan 2026). This country is not on the ineligible list in the Prize Drawing Official Rules (3 Feb 2026), so residents aged 18+ can also enter prize drawings.
Not on the Terms' list of barred residences (Afghanistan, Cuba, DRC, Iran, Russia, Syria, etc.). Users must be 18+ and may not use the service where crypto use is prohibited.

United Kingdom is close-only on both the frontend and the API: users can close existing positions but cannot open new ones. The help centre (dated 2026-08-14) lists it among blocked countries, so new residents effectively cannot trade.
Listed in the Terms (updated 24 Jan 2025) among countries whose residents may not use Real-Money Services. Play-money (Ooms) markets stay open, and the app tells users from Restricted Jurisdictions they can still bet play money.

- Can UK residents use Kalshi?
- No. Kalshi’s terms exclude UK residents. United Kingdom is on the Member Agreement's list of Restricted Jurisdictions. Residents may not trade Event Contracts (the agreement says this does not by itself bar holding membership).

- With restrictions. Polymarket is open to UK residents only in part. United Kingdom is close-only on both the frontend and the API: users can close existing positions but cannot open new ones.
