Are prediction markets legal in Louisiana?
Yes, with limits. Louisiana’s Gaming Control Board told its licensees in December 2025 that sports event contracts are illegal sports wagering under state law, even on CFTC-regulated exchanges, and that involvement may affect their licences. We found no action against a platform itself. Sports betting is legal through Board-licensed operators.
Of the 56 platforms we review, 13 are open in Louisiana, 5 with restrictions and 25 not at all; for 13 the terms do not say. Sports betting in Louisiana: legal, licensed by the Louisiana Gaming Control Board (La. R.S. 27:601 et seq.) (legis.la.gov).
Not legal advice. Eligibility usually follows where you are when you trade, and a platform can refuse an individual account. Checked 4 October 2026.
