Are prediction markets legal in Maine?

Yes. Maine has taken no action against prediction markets that we could find. Sports betting is legal, licensed by the Gambling Control Unit, and Maine’s Attorney General has joined multistate court briefs and a comment letter arguing that states, not the CFTC, should regulate sports event contracts.

Of the 56 platforms we review, 12 are open in Maine, 5 with restrictions and 26 not at all; for 13 the terms do not say. Sports betting in Maine: legal, licensed by the Gambling Control Unit (maine.gov).
